Nomination bafouée de Margaret Papillon au Astrid Lindgren Award 2015

Margaret Papillon est le seul auteur haïtien à consacrer une bonne partie de son œuvre littéraire à la jeunesse de son pays. Aussi, ce n’est pas sans raison que le Swedish Arts Council trouva cause d’approuver sa candidature et la nomina d’emblée pour le Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award(ALMA), édition 2015. A noter que ce serait la première fois que notre pays aurait le privilège de participer à un concours égalant le Prix Nobel en prestige. Malheureusement, pour des raisons encore obscures, l’agent de liaison de la IBBY(International Board on Books for Young People) en Haïti informa ALMA qu’elle n’assumait pas la responsabilité de la nomination de Margaret Papillon, ainsi confirmant le retrait d’Haïti à cette illustre compétition globale. La section IBBY d’Haïti est l’organisme affecté à la promotion de la littérature jeunesse du pays. Une pétition a été lancée…

Leonise’s angelic voice and endearing story of an impoverished yet appreciative life were brought to light by San Antonio’s KENS5 morning news anchor Sarah Forgany during a recent visit to Leonise’s Haitian Village.

The Kobonal Haiti Mission has built hundreds of solid concrete homes with four rooms, cement floors, cinder block walls and a galvanized steel roof. Recently, I came upon this article which predicts the way Americans will look like in about 40 years from now. The look is that of people of mixed origins and multiple races. In my opinion, that suggests the relations among races will improve as we are now experiencing a huge deterioration in that area. We may as well start working on pacifying the little wars sprouting here and there. This can be done by substituting forgiveness for revenge, diluting all the apprehension toward each other with a bit of trust, and sprinkling some love dust over our bitterness. If we are going to “sleep with the enemy” (the only way to procreate the marvelous creature of 2050), we should make it a pleasurable experience. Let’s begin by easing the tension eroding the very core of our society. After all, we are in this journey called life together. Let’s enjoy the…
